NV Meal Service Updates:

SUN BUCKS are coming this Summer!

In the summer of 2024, Washington State will launch Summer EBT, “SUN Bucks”, a new grocery benefit program that provides families $120 for each ELIGIBLE school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out.  This benefit will be on an EBT card and mailed to the address on file with the school district (Make sure you address with us is current).  

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Children who live in a household already receives assistance program benefits (SNAP, TANF, FDPIR), OR
  • Child attends a school that operates the National School Meal Program (PK-12th Grade), AND
  • Is directly certified for free and reduced-price school meals, OR
  • Submits a qualifying Family Income Survey (FIS) by MAY 30TH:   Available at all NV Schools main offices or you can print a copy from our Food Service webpage (link below)

All NV students have access to meals at no cost during the school day, but only students who qualify for free/ reduced meal status (via directly from WA state or have been approved on a Family Income Survey) will receive the SUNBUCKS benefit.

  • Gives families the flexibility to select foods that fit their culture and lifestyle.
  • Improves food security and diet quality for participating children.

MEALS WILL BE CONTINUE TO BE OFFERED FREE TO ALL NV STUDENTS NEXT SCHOOL YEAR 24/25!

NV has been APPROVED to operate a special program CEP program (called Community Eligibility Provision).  This program allows us to offer breakfast and lunch at NO COST to ALL NV students.  Meals will continue to be offered to students at no cost for at least the next two school years (through School Year 25/26).  Families do not need to fill out a meal application for their students to receive meals.   Read more under Free and Reduced Meal Status


No meal applications are accepted while operating CEP.   Instead, families that don't automatically qualify for Free & Reduced meals status by way of Direct Certification* will be asked (not required) to fill out a FAMILY INCOME SURVEY.
