Thank You to the Community, Update on School Status
NV Media

The last few days have shown the generosity of our community as you have quickly come together to help your neighbors amidst the flooding. I thank you personally and on behalf of Nooksack Valley Schools.

Both Everson and Nooksack elementary schools were quickly turned into emergency shelters on Monday thanks to the sudden donations from the community of everything from food to water and blankets to mattresses. Our community showed amazing generosity and we did the best we could to take care of people in an incredibly tough situation.

Your neighbors who need additional nights of shelter have now transitioned to more permanent locations in Lynden at Sonlight Community Church and North County Christ the King Church. Thank you to the folks there for helping and if you want to continue to donate, please contact those groups.

Moving forward, we are assessing the damage at our school facilities and taking stock of the changing road conditions. As of now, we are uncertain of when we can safely restart school and will assess the situation daily. Please continue to look for updates via email and on our website. We will work hard to get school going as soon as possible.

Again, thank you to everyone who has donated and helped. Let's stay NV Strong!
