When fall sports can start again, Nooksack Valley High School will be ready after the hiring of two new head coaches.

Madison Guillen, Cross Country

Guillen has coached in the Nooksack Valley Schools since 2016, starting with the middle school track and field program. Following her middle school experience, Guillen moved to coach with the high school cross country program.

“In the past few years of coaching, I have discovered that cross country offers the perfect combination of nature, community and competition,” she says. “I have enjoyed coaching in the Valley, and I am excited to continue contributing to the cross country program as head coach and get more students outside and active.”

Ashley Homer, Girls Soccer

Homer, a fifth-grade teacher at Everson Elementary with two of her own kids at Everson, played two years of collegiate soccer in New York before transferring to play her final two years back home in Whatcom County at Western Washington University. It was there she was part of the National Championship team of 2016 while earning All-American honors.

Homer, now fully invested in the Nooksack Valley community, says she “looks forward to a bright future and solid success of our girls soccer program.”
