The state recently awarded Nooksack Valley Schools a Digital Equity and Inclusion Grant, benefiting every school in the district.
The goal of the competitive grant is to provide equitable opportunities and increased student engagement with technology. For Nooksack Valley, that means the district's adoption of Boxlights, an interactive display for each classroom.
"Boxlights will continue to enhance our ability to meet many of the language and developmental needs within our classrooms while focusing on effective instruction," says Kim McGee, Nooksack Valley Schools special programs director. "Boxlights allow teachers to address the individualized learning needs by providing magnification for text, text to speech capabilities and amplified speakers."
The grant allowed for the purchase and installation of Boxlights, an ongoing process. Teachers will receive professional development around the use of Boxlights and engaging the features throughout the coming school year.
