Hello Nooksack Valley!

As many of you know, the metrics that are used by the health department in their guidance to us, have been steadily improving over the past several weeks.  So much so, that they are preparing to release new guidelines sometime this week.  We are anticipating that these new guidelines will include the following:

1. Continue to start remotely, with the addition of small numbers of students in our schools soon thereafter.  This initial number of students will include some students with special needs as well as some that have poor or no internet connectivity from their homes. The number will be limited to start.

2. Every several weeks (3-4?) the health department would review their metrics, and ensure we are able to meet the health and safety guidelines for distancing, sanitizing, etc.  If all of that is still “pointed in the right direction”, we would be able to add additional numbers of students at each interval.

3. We have the potential to add students back over time, leading to a full hybrid model.

As a reminder, our guiding principles from the outset have been to a) follow the guidelines set forth by the health department for the health and safety of our students, staff, and community, and b) maximize in-person learning.   Once these new guidelines are official, we will be putting together a sequencing plan that moves Nooksack Valley to a hybrid model over time, that is if our guiding principles hold true and the health department metrics remain optimistic.  Remember also that we must follow the health department guidelines as per our insurance risk pool.

This news brings new levels of optimism.  Optimism and hope that we can get our awesome young people back into our schools and classrooms with our outstanding staff.  Stay tuned and stay healthy.

¡Hola Nooksack Valley!

Como muchos de ustedes saben, las métricas que utiliza el departamento de salud en su orientación hacia nosotros han mejorado constantemente durante las últimas semanas. Tanto es así, que se están preparando para lanzar nuevas pautas en algún momento de esta semana. Anticipamos que estas nuevas pautas incluirán lo siguiente:

1. Continuar comenzando de forma remota, con la incorporación de un pequeño número de estudiantes en nuestras escuelas poco después. Este número inicial de estudiantes incluirá algunos estudiantes con necesidades especiales, así como algunos que tienen poca o ninguna conexión a Internet desde sus hogares. El número estará limitado para empezar.

2. Cada varias semanas (¿3-4?), El departamento de salud revisará sus métricas y se asegurará de que podamos cumplir con las pautas de salud y seguridad para el distanciamiento, la desinfección, etc. Si todo eso sigue “apuntando en la dirección correcta ”, Podríamos agregar números adicionales de estudiantes en cada intervalo.

3. Tenemos el potencial de volver a agregar estudiantes con el tiempo, lo que lleva a un modelo híbrido completo.

Como recordatorio, nuestros principios rectores desde el principio han sido a) seguir las pautas establecidas por el departamento de salud para la salud y seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, personal y comunidad, y b) maximizar el aprendizaje en persona. Una vez que estas nuevas pautas sean oficiales, estaremos elaborando un plan de secuenciación que mueva Nooksack Valley a un modelo híbrido con el tiempo, es decir, si nuestros principios rectores son ciertos y las métricas del departamento de salud siguen siendo optimistas. Recuerden también que debemos seguir las pautas del departamento de salud según nuestro grupo de riesgo de seguro.

Con esta noticia trae nuevos niveles de optimismo. Optimismo y esperanza de que podamos hacer que nuestros increíbles jóvenes regresen a nuestras escuelas y aulas con nuestro excelente personal. Estén atentos y manténgasen saludables.
